It is always a good idea to disconnect from the stress of the big cities and immerse yourself in the landscapes full of good energy, places marked by history, places where you can connect more with yourself and with the culture. So this time I will give you 5 reasons why Chichen Itza is such a place and it is worth considering visit to this archaeological site for your next trip.

1 VISIT ONE OF THE 7 WONDERS OF THE WORLD
This is the first most valuable reason and it is because “El Castillo” in Chichen Itza, which is better known as “The Kukulkan Temple”, is the one of the 7 modern wonders of the world. Wouldn’t like you to have this destination on your must-see list?

2 WONDERFUL CENOTES
Near the Archaeological Site you can find a lot of different cenotes – open, semi-open and closed. So you can enjoy a refreshing water after a visit to Chichén Itzá.

3 THE TEMPLE OF WARRIORS
Near this structure you can take a walk where you can contemplate the column of the feathered serpents. The structure bears such a name – The temple of warriors – due to the multiple characters with weapons sculpted in stone. Temple is also a part of the square of a thousand columns that supported a construction, of which today only it ruins remain. At the time it served to make astronomical observations.

4 YOU CAN MAKE A QUICK VISIT TO VALLADOLID
This little town consists of seven neighborhoods, each one of them has a beautiful ancient church and it is one of the oldest towns in the Yucatan peninsula. The town was founded in 1543, and It is currently the main commercial supply center in the area. Valladolid was also one of the first Spanish settlements in the Yucatan peninsula. Are you encouraged to discover this place?

5 THE QUETZAL SONG
To give you even more reasons to discover Chichen Itza, I would tell you that in archaeological site it is possible to hear a quite intense sound of a short duration similar to the song of the Quetzal bird. You would be able to hear it if you stand approximately 40 meters away from the front of the principal pyramid ladder.

The curious phenomenon was announced in 2004, and it was concluded that these sounds are very similar to the song of a quetzal bird, which is considered a sacred animal for Mayas, but as some archaeologists say it could also be a sound of the drops of rain. You can’t miss it!

I really hope you are convinced to visit Chichen Itza and live a unique and special experience that you will never forget.
Have a good trip!
